3D printing refers to any of the various processes for printing a three-dimensional object. Primarily additive processes are used, in which successive layers of material are built up layer by layer in the material of your choosing under computer control. The most popular process is selective laser sintering. Objects can be of almost any shape or geometry, and are produced from a 3D model. A 3D printer is a type of industrial robot which can print out 3D models.
